Ukrainian graphic artist. A legendary figure of the Ukrainian artistic underground. Born in Lviv. Completely mastered the technique of etching. Since 1974 participated in exhibitions. The etchings by Aksinin were twice awarded the Medal of Honour of the International Biennale "Small Forms of Graphic Art" in Łódź (1979, 1985). In 1981 Aksinin's ex-libris was recognized as the best one at competition dedicated to St. Benedict's 1500th anniversary, three ex-libris copies were presented to Pope John Paul II. The works by O. Aksinin are in collections of National Art Museum of Ukraine, Lviv National Gallery of Art by B. Voznytskyi, the Cabinet of Lviv National Library of Ukraine named after V. Stefanyk (Lviv, Ukraine), the Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine (Kyiv), the Art Museum of Estonia, the Collection of Modern Religious Art of the Vatican Museums, the Hieronymus Bosch Art Centre (Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands), Dukat Gallery (Kyiv), Art Museum Khmelnytskyi, as well as in private collections in many countries around the world.
In 2017, the largest exhibition of О. Aksinin's works was held at the National Art Museum of Ukraine. It included a two-volume catalogue containing almost all of the artist's works, as well as excerpts from his letters and diaries.
The artist's works were presented at the Timax Global, Dukat and Goldens auctions (Kyiv).
